Thursday Night 4/27 – Opening dance – Bread and Butter Jam at Studio One

8:15pm – 11:00pm Come join us at Providence Swings' Dirty Dozen Edition of our weekly Bread and Butter Jam!  Only $5! (can pay at the door or add-on to weekend registration)

 

Friday Night 4/28 – First Draw Dance at The German Club

6:30pm Doors open, registration and check-in, plus competition check-in & mugshots. Competitors must register and check-in by 10pm!
7:00pm – 8:00pm Beginner swing lesson
8:00pm – 12:00am First Draw Dance with live music by MICHAEL GAMBLE and the RHYTHM SERENADERS, plus DJ Wil Reed! (Dance only, $25 at the door)
9:40 pm Instructor introductions and demo
10:30 pm Mash-up Jack & Jill Prelims, Cost: $10

 

Saturday Wee Hours 4/29 – After Party at Murphy’s Law Irish Pub (Pawtucket, RI)

12:00am – 1:00am Let’s squash late night hunger together! The late night kitchen closes early, so we’ve pre-ordered some all-time favorites. If you choose to participate, we shall split the bill evenly like one big happy family! Don’t dally though – last call is at 1am!!

 

Saturday Afternoon 4/29 – Workshops at Studio One

11:30am – 12:00pm Registration, warm-up & check-in
12:00pm – 1:00pm Class #1: Classic, Jaw Dropping Basics  Times change, music changes, basics change. Get back to the roots and make your basics count. They're the foundation that keeps everything afloat. All levels
1:15pm – 2:15pm Class #2: Finding the Pocket  Learn techniques and tricks for dancing with people of all levels. We will focus on being a better partner and supporting creativity, and not just finding – but becoming the grooooooove!  All levels
2:15pm – 2:20pm DDW Group Photo!
2:45pm – 3:45pm Class #3: Music Appreciation  Dive deeper into music structure and how it makes us want to move.  Intermediate/Advanced
4:00pm – 5:00pm Class #4: Jazz Steps to Spice Up Your Dancing   Hello Central, give me Dr. Jazz! The easiest and hippest way to add a little style to your dancing is to throw in some jazz movement. Dr. Gilkenson and Nurse Faltesek will inject you with boogie, directly into your bones. The doctor is in.   Intermediate/Advanced

Sunday Wee Hours 4/30 – DDW Late Night Dance at Studio One

12:30am – 3:00am Presenting our first ever Dirty Dozen Late Night Dance with DJ Battle between Jonathan Caron from Montreal and another special guest DJ!! Expect some nibbles. Only $10! (can pay at the door or add-on to weekend registration)

 

Sunday Afternoon 4/30 – Workshops at Studio One

12:00pm – 12:30pm Warm-up & check-in
12:30pm – 1:30pm Class #5: Finding Your Voice  Individuality is one of the most important parts of dancing. In this class, we will work on some processes to help you find the movements that help show what makes you – you! All levels
1:45pm – 2:45pm Class #6: Fast Dancing Made Easy  Well not necessarily easy…but easier. Fast dancing is fun and exciting. Nina and Falty will show you some tips to keep your cool when the tempo gets hot.  Intermediate/Advanced
3:15pm – 4:15pm Class #7: Moments to Shine for Both Leaders and Followers  Not everyone in the band plays their solo at the same time. Learn how to share moments and pass them back and forth rather than both constantly tooting your own horns simultaneously. Intermediate/Advanced
4:30pm – 5:30pm Class #8: Nina and Falty's Dirty Dozen Routine   Lindy hop has long been a performance art form.  Move beyond your strong social dancing skills by learning a high energy, fast paced, and fun original routine with Nina and Falty.  No partner required and there will be partner rotation. All levels
